Oliver!

I don't think I've blogged here in a long time! Here's a picture of Oliver from about a month ago. He's a good baby so far. He's good at his baby jobs, eating, sleeping and pooping. What else could you ask for??

The boys have adjusted well to having another brother. We've finished up Thanksgiving and are working our way toward Christmas. I put the tree up yesterday, and am hoping we lose fewer ornaments to grabby hands this year.

A gal can hope, right?

Are You Having Twins?

No, I'm not. I get that question a lot. Along with, "due any day huh?" and the answer is no, I'm due in September. But thanks for thinking I'm huge. Or thanks for also flat out saying, "you're huge!".

People are a little nuts!

Father's Day

What do you guys do for Father's Day? This year we're tight on money so I'm making official promises for gifts to come later! Steven is interested in a blu-ray player or a DVR. We're like the only people left without DVR. ha. We actually watch shows live and sit through commercials.

I made cupcakes for my Father in Law and I'll call my dad tomorrow to tell him happy father's day. I'm late with my cards this year that have to be mailed.

I find Father's Day difficult, because I'm never sure what to get for people I know who are fathers. lol

It's all about the food . . . .

This weekend is supposed to be all about the cleaning, but that hasn't happened yet! Instead, it's turning out to be all about the food!

I bought some fresh mozzarella and basil, to make a pizza puff recipe. After getting the ingredients for that, I decided to try my hand at making a basic Caprese salad. It's just layered basil, tomato cheese, salt and pepper and olive oil. What I discovered is that I love this salad, if I use just a little bit of the fresh basil. A whole leaf is too much for me.

As I speak the pepperoni puffs are in the oven, and at least they smell good! I got the recipe from Danielle. I'm also making those potatoes, maybe for supper. See what I mean by all about the food??

3 of my boys are at their grandparents house this weekend. They'll be so excited when they get home on Sunday because their bunk beds were delivered this weekend. They have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the bunk beds for 3 weeks!

I never blogged about Elijah's birthday party last weekend. He had a little friend from preschool come over, and they had a blast! The boys love this mechanical car thing that Thomas got for his birthday a year ago. Elijah was sweet enough to let his pal, Drew, drive first. A feat which was not only very entertaining to watch, but also slightly life-threatening! He drove them straight through the lower branches of the tree in the yard (luckily no one was injured), half under the trampoline, and there were at least 4 near misses with running over people!

Despite the car perils, the kids all had a lot of fun!

He requested a fireman cake, and that's what he got! You'll also note, that my awesome birthday wrapping paper was missing and the only paper I could find to wrap his gifts was Christmas tree paper! I figure, it at least matches the evergreen trees on the cake! ha. I couldn't find fireman treat bags, so everyone got Spongebob. It was quite the hodgepodge of themes. The cake plates were Thomas the Train.

All in all, I think he enjoyed the day!

Mother's Day and Baby News

I had a great Mother's Day! The boys made some really cute things at school and at church. Steven got me a gift certificate to our kitchen store here, and well, that's about as perfect a gift as I could hope for! I cannot wait to use it!!

In an update, the "ring test" for the baby turns out to be FALSE for me! We're having another boy!

And there's the proof! I sort of thought I might really want a girl this time, but after having a bit of a worry over a flagged risk factor for Down Syndrome in my routine blood work, I was just so happy and relieved that the baby is healthy with no apparent markers of Down Syndrome or any other chromosomal abnormality. I was excited to see that healthy baby squirming around, and we felt so blessed. There wasn't even a single moment of disappointment!

Look at him, he's already pondering life's mysteries! We've decided to name him Oliver Henry. We can't wait to meet him and see if he looks like any of his brothers!

Someone reminded me about this blog today . . .

So I thought I'd blog here. :D

Monday I have an ultrasound, and we're hoping to find out if we're having another sweet little boy, or if we'll get a little girl this time. It's very hard for me not to know. I like to plan. I'm a planner. Planning is important when you have 4 almost 5 children. I want to buy something for this baby. Something, anything at all! I haven't purchased one single thing yet. Saturday I'll be 20 weeks, that's halfway there.

As an experiment, Ruby and I did the ring on a string test today. You put your wedding ring on a string and hold it over your wrist. Wait til it becomes completely still then watch it. If it goes in a circle, your first child is a boy, if it's back and forth, it's a girl. Wait for it to slow to a stop, then when it starts again that's your second child and so on. It's supposed to stop completely after your last child. Ruby held it for me the first time, and it said 4 boys then a girl. The second time I did myself, after she left, and it was the same. The third time was down the hall in front of two other witnesses (lol) and it still said 4 boys and then one girl. Crazy! We'll see on Monday if the ring on a string test proves accurate. ha.

I'll try to remember to update this blog and let you know!

I have 3 meetings at work today, Yuck! I do love this poster though. I'd like to frame it and hang it in my office.

How are things going bloggers? I'm never over here but I thought I'd pop in to say hello today.

So, hello!
